Ok, OK, Here is the route, which is as near finalised as is possible*.
So we started in Edinburgh, Scotland (a truly wonderful country – not to be confused with england), and flew to London. After an overnight stay, the Journey we have planned looks like this;
London (UK) to San Francisco
San Francisco to New York
New York to Seattle
Seattle to Las Vegas
Las Vegas to San Francisco
San Francisco to Auckland
Auckland to Christchurch
Christchurch to Kaikoura
Kaikoura to Auckland
Auckland to Sydney
Sydney to Melbourne
Melbourne to Adelaide
Adelaide to Hobart (Tasmania)
Back to Adelaide
Up to Alice Springs or across to Perth
Then back to Sydney (possibly via Cairns)
Sydney to Hong Kong
Hong Kong to Taipei (Taiwan)
Taipei to Tokyo
Touring Japan for around eight days with Japan Rail Pass.
Returning from Tokyo to London direct.
So, that’s the plan. According to the great circle mapper tool (http://gc.kls2.com/), in flights alone this will equate to 18 segments, and an estimated 54,334 miles
